Thanks to Joni Zhang for the code sample upon which I've based my own Precompile.axd handler to expose any compiler errors in my ASPX pages before a user sees them.
This Excellent article on the ASPX compilation process, debug status and ASP.NET Temporary Files should be read and understood by all ASP.NET developers!
